Conservation impact from Lamteungoh fishing village: lesson learned from Aceh coastal area

Abstract Indonesia is an archipelago nation with most of its big cities lays on or adjacent to the coastal area. Thus, driving huge demand for marine and fisheries resources in concerning region. However, a long coastline, rural areas villages are distributed along coast surrounding archipelago, therefore it reasonable consider impact being given by village effort toward conservation. In this study, we applied Rapid Appraisal Fisheries Management System (RAFMS), which recently developed technique quickly assess management system, time-efficient, was cost-effective gathered from community stakeholders. study area located at Lamteungoh Peukan Bada subdistrict, Aceh Province. This known pristine ecological condition compare other The result shows that traditional fishermen institution called Panglima Laot has significant role region’s conservation actions. Some policies implementing area- time-based restrictions engagement resource fishermen, as well catch particular species have impacted positively towards activities possible replicate system beside province Indonesia.
